Engineered for improved mechanical fixation stability during cranial procedures, DORO LUCENT® AVA Disposable Skull Pins feature a shoulder shoulder-free design that aims to minimize unnecessary tissue contact around the shaft. Manufactured from titanium, these pins are compatible with intraoperative CT, X-ray, X-ray-based angiography, and fluoroscopy, engineered to reduce imaging artifacts to an absolute minimum.
Elevating Fixation Stability with AVA Skull Pin Technology
The AVA Skull Pin Technology combines two unique components, designed to improve mechanical fixation stability:
- Distinct Skull Pins: Feature differently angled tips on the single and dual pin sides designed for more balanced pin penetration depths.
- Straight Skull Pin Holder: Aligning AVA Skull Pins in direction of applied force.
Together, these two components optimize force distribution and fixational stability to significantly decrease the risk of unintended head movements.
[Preclinical testing on mixed-gender cadaveric specimens, aged 63–102 years, showed for our novel pinning system 51% reduced slippage at 347 N (clinically relevant procedures under relevant loads including simulated trepanation) and 35% reduced slippage at 520 N (1.5-fold safety margin above clinical loads)].
